Hiring a Boise engagement photographer should feel just as easy and exciting as the session itself. Whether you’re newly engaged or planning a surprise proposal, I know the process can feel a little overwhelming—especially if you’ve never been in front of the camera professionally before.
That’s why I created this Q&A-style guide! I’m here to answer some of the most common questions I get from couples who are booking their Boise engagement photos, so you know exactly what to expect when we work together.
Every engagement session includes:
My goal is to create a session that reflects who you are—whether that means cozying up at your favorite bar downtown or hiking to a quiet lookout at golden hour.
Real, relaxed, and meaningful.
I’m not about stiff poses or cookie-cutter locations. I’ll prompt you with natural movements or little “games” to help bring out those candid moments. We’ll chat, we’ll laugh, and I’ll guide you the whole way through so nothing feels awkward or overly posed.
Together! I’ll send you a questionnaire and offer suggestions based on your vibe and vision. Want urban and playful? Let’s hit downtown Boise or a cozy coffee shop. Prefer scenic nature? Lucky Peak or the Boise Foothills are incredible, especially in spring and early summer.

You should feel like yourself—but your best, most comfortable, photo-ready version.
Neutrals, earthy tones, and layers always photograph well. Avoid bold patterns or bright neons that might distract from the connection between you. If you’re not sure, I’ve got you covered with inspiration and personalized advice!

Absolutely yes! I love when couples bring personal elements into their session—like a vintage bike, their pup, or even their favorite card game.
Props that tell your story add depth and fun to your photos. See how one couple did exactly this in their downtown Boise session here: Boise Engagement Photos with a Storytelling Twist
It depends on your wedding date and how you’ll use your photos (save-the-dates, guest book, etc.), but most couples book their session 6–9 months before the big day.
Spring and early summer are the most photogenic seasons in Boise—think fresh greenery and wildflowers—though I photograph year-round and love a good snowy or urban session in the off-season.
I always start with a video call to get to know each other. You deserve to work with a photographer who feels like a good fit—not just creatively, but personally too.
From there, booking is simple: contract + retainer, and we’re officially in business!
